Assembly and installation
We will get your new project up to speed in the shortest possible time using a combination of our own expert tooling manufacture and equipment from industry leading suppliers. Below is an example of a recent project.
Example Project
At the start of this project, the clients approached SI for advice on the ultrasonic welding of a mobile phone fascia to a keyboard housing (Image 1 below).

Image 1: Mobile phone fascia and keyboard housing.
It's always preferable to be involved from the product concept stage, so that suitable joint designs can be included in the injection mould tools (Image 2 below).

Image 2: Joint design.
Some components require an airtight seal, others to have high tensile strength, or others to have the joint completely hidden from view. Knowing the customer and end user requirements allows us to tailor the joint design to fullfil specific requirements. From using drawings or components tooling is quoted and manufactured to match the injection moulded components.

Image 3: Mobile phone fascia ('A' surface) in poured resin anvil.
The tooling shown indicates that delicate 'A' surfaces can be nested into a poured resin anvil (Image 3 above), while the welding horn or sonotrode (Image 4 below) can be profiled in Duraluminium or Titanium to suit the contact faces of the rear of the moulding.

The end result is welded assemblies with no blemishes or marking to the 'A' surface (Image 5 below).
